New Paintings 2008:  A Huge and Unmeaning Chandelier

As late as July of 2008 this was the largest painting I had completed to date. It is a conflation of a non-objective geometric color composition, originally executed on a small scale in 2002, with a new, rhythmically allied linear abstract figure group derived from non-western calligraphy and -- improbably -- Picasso ca. 1953 - 1958.  The title, like those for many of the 2008 paintings, is a reference to Poe.  (Click on any thumbnail to see the enlarged image.)
